Catching Up

Its been a month since I've posted anything.  Things went a little haywire after my injury but I'll try to catch up on everything.

Reading:
I finished Redshirts by John Scalzi.  Absolutely fantastic book, especially for any TOS fans and for general scifi geekery.  I'm currently reading several books, most notably Cloud Atlas and Wool.
Cloud Atlas I've been listening to while I jog.  Obviously the movie was stunning.  The book is different in some ways - the format is different, of course, but some of the plot points are a bit different as well.  I'm enjoying it.
Wool is a loooooooooonnnnngggg book!  It is actually a compilation of novellas, it seems.  I'm on the third story so far and after this there are two more stories to go.  Reading this one for the book club.  The story itself is great!  I like the concept of the book and I like the plot twists.  You think you know what the plot twist will be but the author also knows what you are thinking and will create further twists to trip you up.

Exercising:
The bike has been sitting for a little while and I think it will stay that way for a few weeks while I strengthen up.  I've starting working with the trainer again; we have changed around my routine so as to do more strengthening of the psoas muscles.  I've started running again, it is a combination of walking and running really and I'm going very short distances (1.6 miles is the longest so far).  It feels good to run again!

Spanish:
This has been on hold.

Cooking:
A lot of drastic changes here.  I'm almost exclusively cooking at home now because I've given up all carbs and sugar for the most part.  Very rarely I'll have something with beans or a tortilla but all bread, rice, pasta, potatoes and corn are gone.  Sugar is gone also - i'm using Xylitol alternative as that is the safest alternative I've found.  I'm continuing with the green juice, frozen.  that works out well.  I'm making lots of things with cauliflower - it seems that is versatile enough to replace rice, pasta and even pizza crust!  i was so happy when i made pizza crust with cauliflower considering how much of a staple pizza was in my weekly menu before.
The whole thing has been quite easy to stick with, i'm happy to say.  The first week was challenging but after that, the only thing i seem to crave occasionally is chocolate.  I have found a flourless, sugarless chocolate cake recipe that i'll be trying soon.

Decluttering:
So with the changes to diet, I went through a major purge of the fridge, freezer and pantry.  there is a bit of reorganization needed with the pantry now that there are giant gaping holes and that will happen soon.
The previous closet reorganization has been working out really well!  It has made daily life very easy as everything i need in the morning is in one spot.
